Link Pass-Through | Cuando está activado, el estado del receptor en una interfaz 100Base-X se refleja en el otro transmisor de fibra 100Base-X. This green LED is turned on when power is applied to the media converter. Otherwise it is off. The LED will blink slowly when in Loopback test mode.
Fiber link 1 / Receive activity (LK1)
This green LED is operational only when power is applied. The LED is on when the 100Base-X link is on and flashes with a 50% duty cycle when data is received.
Fiber link 2 on / Receive activity (LK2)
This green LED is operational only when power is applied. The LED is on when the 100Base-X link is on and flashes with a 50% duty cycle when data is received.

Link Pass Through
Enabled (Default) - When the state of the receiver is changed on one of the 100Base-X interfaces it is reflected on the other 100Base-X fiber transmitter. If disabled, the 100Base-X fiber interfaces operate independently. Far-End Fault indication on the 100Base-FX fiber interface has no effect on the other interface.
Far-End Fault (FEF)
- Enabled (default) - The media converter transmits the Far-End Fault Indication over the fiber connection whenever a receive failure is detected. The media converter continuously monitors the fiber connection and clears the Far-End Fault Indication condition when a valid signal is received.
- Enabled - The 100Base-X receiver is looped to the 100Base-X transmitter. Link #2's fiber transmitter is taken off the interface.
Remote Loopback #1
- Disabled (Default - Up)
- Enabled - The 100Base-X receiver is looped to the 100Base-X transmitter. The 100Base-TX transmitter is taken off the interface.
Remote Loopback #2

Cuando se utiliza un solo cable de fibra, se necesita un par de Conversores de Medios de un solo cable de fibra para la conversión de cobre a fibra. Los Conversores de Medios para un solo cable de fibra de Perle también se conocen como modelos “Up/Down” (subida/bajada) Por ejemplo, el S-100MM-S1SC20U (“Up”) y S-100MM-S1SC20D (“Down”), que se muestran más abajo, deben utilizarse por parejas. Cada “Up” debe emparejarse con un par “Down” con el fin de gestionar las frecuencias de transmisión y recepción por separado.
La mayoría de las instalaciones para conversores de medios de fibra monomodo son de “conector doble” o “fibra doble”, en las que una conexión de fibra se utiliza para la transmisión y la otra para la recepción. Éstas están físicamente “cruzadas” con el fin de reflejar los enlaces de transmisión/recepción.
Sin embargo, para reducir costes, o bien si la fibra disponible es limitada, puede utilizarse tecnología WDM. WDM utiliza frecuencias de transmisión y recepción independientes para comunicar a través de un solo cable de fibra. La tecnología WDM se basa en que las fibras ópticas pueden transportar muchas longitudes de onda de luz simultáneamente sin que se produzca interacción entre las longitudes de onda. Por consiguiente, un solo cable de fibra puede transportar numerosos canales o señales de longitud de onda independientes simultáneamente.
Por ello, debe recordar que, si se utiliza un solo cable de fibra, necesitará un Conversor de Medios “Up” (de subida) en un extremo y un Conversor de Medios “Down” (de bajada) en el otro para lograr la conversión de cobre a fibra
